Ramona Martin Piano Rehearsal Room

Ramona Martin Piano Rehearsal Room

Ramona Martin Phase VIIPhase 7 of the Entertain the Future! Capital Campaign to Expand and Enhance the Newport Performing Arts Center will expand backstage support areas, including the Ramona Martin Piano Rehearsal Room.

The Martin family – son Terry Martin and daughter Kathe Dunscomb – along with the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) decided to name this piano rehearsal room in honor of Ramona Martin, who began accompanying individuals on her piano in 1961 in Lincoln County. Audiences throughout Lincoln County, from Salishan, the Lincoln County Community Center, Naterlin School Gymnasium before the PAC existed, the PAC and the Presbyterian Church in Newport have enjoyed her music, to name a few. She also served on the BAY Music Association Board and has been the accompanist for Central Coast Chorale and other groups.

The 572-square-foot piano rehearsal room will have appropriate environmental controls and noise abatement to accommodate the permanent housing of two grand pianos in a manner that allows the pianos to be available for practice and rehearsals.

Fans and friends of Ramona have an opportunity to contribute to this part of the Entertain the Future! Capital Campaign. For more information or to arrange for installments, please call Bonnie Prater at the OCCA office, 541-574-2655. OCCA is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit arts organization (tax ID #93-0696250).
