March 25, 2010 Dear Coastal Arts Partner, The only arts guide of its kind on the Oregon coast, at your fingertips - in one brochure and online! Since 2001 the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) has published three editions of the Oregon Coast Cultural Arts Visitors Guide. Last summer, when I visited many coastal communities in all seven counties, the subject of a new, updated Visitors’ Guide came up frequently. Feedback from focus group forums indicated there is a strong interest and need for OCCA, as the Regional Arts Council for the coast, to continue to promote coastal arts, heritage and humanities via this brochure. As a result of your suggestions, OCCA will publish its 4th edition of the Oregon Coast Cultural Arts Visitors Guide - coming out in spring 2010, in time for the tourist season. The benefits of participating in this guide include: (a) a comprehensive coastal arts resource with extensive distribution (b) cooperative marketing advantage (c) big print run, modest cost per person (d) strong message targeting the cultural tourist OCCA is excited to announce that the News-Times newspaper located in Newport, OR, is our major partner in this project. Working together, we will be able to achieve our spring print date and distribute this brochure to coastal visitors when it can really make a difference. (Please see distribution details below). Many features of the brochure will remain the same: (1 Geographical information, town by town, from Astoria to Brookings-Harbor. (2) Convenient coastal map that guides the traveler. (3) Our acknowledgment of the residency of Native American groups along the Oregon coast as indicated on page margins. (4) Color graphics will enliven the pages, so we will be looking forward to your submissions. This attractive and comprehensive brochure is an excellent advertising opportunity for your business or organization. You will be pleased to know we are keeping costs down and holding the same prices as in 2006. Ad rates start as low as $50. Call the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts/Cultural Arts Visitors Guide project coordinator, Sandy Post, who some of you know, to find out more about how to be included in this brochure. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call me at 541-574-2652, or email me at crickbone@coastarts.org or call Sandy at 541-961-0911. sipost@charter.net. Thanks. Sincerely, Catherine Rickbone OCCA Executive Director P.S. The Oregon Coast Cultural Arts Visitors’ Guide is supported, in part, by the Oregon Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts. Guided by OCCA and in collaboration with the Newport News-Times, we have great support for this promotion of coastal arts. We are very excited about the 4th edition and know you will be too.
