Outside Mullingar, by Tony Award-winning playwright John Patrick Shanley, will be the next production at the Dolphin Playhouse. Shanley is best known for "Doubt," winner of a Tony Award and a Pulitzer Prize, and also wrote the Academy Award-winning screenplay for "Moonstruck."
Outside Mullingar, which opens April 12, is the bittersweet love story of Irish farmers, Rosemary and Anthony, neighbors all their lives, but separated by their fears and a bitter land feud. The death of their parents eventually forces them out of their lonely but familiar ruts. Full of dark humor and poetic prose, John Patrick Shanley’s tenderhearted portrait reminds us it’s never too late to take a chance on love.
Dolphin Playhouse Managing Director Alice Carlson directs the talented cast, which includes Jane Stebbins, Kevin Gowrylow, Glenn Rogie, and newcomer Val Healy. The show runs weekends through April 28, with curtain at 7:00 pm on Friday and Saturdays and 2:00 pm on Sundays. Admission is $10, with seniors and students admitted for $8. The Dolphin Playhouse is located at 580 Newmark, Coos Bay. Tickets are available by calling 541-808-2611 or at thedolphinplayers.webs.com.
