The Oregon Coast Council for the Arts welcomes the Toledo Arts Guild for a group exhibit from March 1-31 in the Runyan Gallery at the Newport Visual Arts Center. The exhibit will feature 14 guild members working in diverse media including but not be limited to fine art photography, painting, drawing, assemblage, ceramic sculpture, raku, porcelain wheel thrown vessels, and metalwork—all created within the last two years. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, March 1, 5-7pm, with artists speaking about their work at 6:00pm.

Artists participating in the “New Works: Toledo Arts Guild” exhibit are Valerie Bolen, Alice Haga, Doug Haga, Eileen Hearne, Sylvia Hosie, Cynthia Jacobi, Valerie Jacobi, Dennis Moler, Gina Nielsen, Janet Runger, Kelli Simonds, Paula Teplitz, Martha Wallace and Dennis White.

The Toledo Arts Guild was formed in 2011 as a way for area artists to show their work during Toledo’s annual Labor Day Weekend Art Show. The guild has gone on to organize exhibits at the Chessman Gallery at the Lincoln City Cultural Center,, the Newport Visual Arts Center, the Florence Events Center, the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival, and the Toledo Wooden Boat Show. The guild participates in events such as the Toledo Children’s Chalk Art Contest, the Little Free Library Box and the Toledo After-School Arts Program.

“From the beginning, the Toledo Arts Guild welcomed artists and art enthusiasts in forms of art and craft: visual, applied and performing,” says guild member Janet Runger. “And the public is invited to attend our monthly art demonstrations, where artists present “make-and-take” art projects.

The Runyan Gallery is open Tuesday-Sunday, 11am to 5pm
