The Central Coast Chorale invites you to come celebrate with us at our Mardi Gras Concert Party! We put on a similar show a couple of years ago and it was such a success (and we had so much fun!) we decided to do it again. The chorale will be singing American spirituals by Moses Hogan and Jester Hairston. We'll insert a bit of true Mardi Gras with a choral version of the Dixie Cups "Iko Iko," based on the chants on the New Orleans Indian groups. We'll nod to the region's jazz traditions with "Tuxedo Junction" and we'll finish with a rip roaring rendition of "When the Saints Go Marching In" joined by our special guests, The Shoreline Stompers. The Stompers will be warming up the crowd at 6:45 (come early, don't miss it!) and then performing Forrest Fisher's arrangement of "Ode to Joy, Joy, Joy," a mashup of Beethoven, Handel and Three Dog Night. Forrest's numbers are always so fun and the musicians are awesome. Women of Note will step out from the chorale to sing a couple of numbers and we'll finish up the concert with a second line parade leading the audience into Geneva Hall where we'll be selling decadent desserts (one last indulgence before Lent starts) and holding a silent auction for hand decorated Mardi Gras masks. Proceeds from the desserts and auction will help us purchase new non-squeaking risers.
Come Celebrate with us and Laissez les bons temps rouler!
