Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) is proud to present the Great Art on Screen series at the Newport Performing Arts Center, 777 W. Olive Street in Newport. These visually stunning event documentaries from By Experience feature the most extraordinary and groundbreaking art masters of their time, in glorious HD color and depth.
"Caravaggio: The Soul and the Blood" starts at 2 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 17, hosted by Kay Moxness. Take an immersive journey through the life, works and struggles of the Italian master Michelangelo Merisi di Caravaggio. Roberto Longhi, a Caravaggio expert, explores in the artist's masterpieces the echo of personal experiences and the expression of the human state, both physical and emotional. These evocative moments – thanks to the use of light and cinematic techniques – allow viewers to go deep inside the mind and soul of Caravaggio, empathizing with his impulses and fears.
OCCA appreciates the support of the Jeannette Hofer Fund at the Oregon Community Foundation, the City of Newport, and series benefactors Bill & JoAnn Barton, as well as individual event sponsors, which makes it possible to show By Experience productions at the PAC.
Ticket prices are $16 for adults, $13 for seniors, and $11 for students. Buy tickets online (look for the "Purchase Tickets" button above), at the PAC box office or by calling 541-265-ARTS (2787). Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (excepting holidays), and one hour prior to performance times.
