Event Description:

A Reading of “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, presented by Claire Hall

Claire continues the long-time Newport Performing Arts Center tradition, originally begun by actor, conductor and longtime arts patron David Ogden Stiers, of a free holiday reading by presenting Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” on Sunday, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. at the David Ogden Stiers Theater (formerly known as the Studio Theatre). Stiers passed away earlier this year.

Claire will read from a reproduction of Dickens’ own “prompt copy,” a version of the classic story he personally edited for public performance. Admission is by donation, with all funds going in support of three efforts close to David’s heart: the PAC capital campaign, the Newport Symphony Orchestra, and the Samaritan House Family Homeless Shelter.
