The Newport Symphony Orchestra at the Ocean conducted by Adam Flatt with guest artist Katherine Evans, trumpet and piccolo trumpet, performs music of Schubert, Ravel, Hertel, Hovhaness, and Mendelssohn.
From Maestro Flatt “The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month: November 11, 1918 marked the end of the Great War. A century has since passed, and we yet in so many ways we exist in the world that emerged from it. Maurice Ravel's exquisite "Tombeau," in homage to the grand, departed, old world, brings the focus to individuals. It is one of the most beautiful works of the twentieth century.”
There will be a pre-concert talk with Maestro Flatt at 6:45pm, Saturday night only. Join the NSO musicians and conductor after the concert for a reception hosted by Flying Dutchman Winery.
The NSO 2018-19 Season is presented by Georgia-Pacific.
