Buy tickets online to National Theatre’s presentation from London of "Hamlet" at 7 p.m. Friday, July 27 at the Newport Performing Arts Center (PAC), 777 W. Olive St. in Newport.
Academy Award® nominee Benedict Cumberbatch (BBC’s "Sherlock," "The Imitation Game") takes on the title role of Shakespeare’s great tragedy. Now seen by over 750,000 people worldwide, the original 2015 NT Live broadcast returns to the big screen.
As a country arms itself for war, a family tears itself apart. Forced to avenge his father’s death but paralysed by the task ahead, Hamlet rages against the impossibility of his predicament, threatening both his sanity and the security of the state. "Hamlet" is directed by Lyndsey Turner ("Posh," "Chimerica") and produced by Sonia Friedman Productions.
National Theatre Live is an initiative by the UK’s National Theatre to broadcast live performances onto cinema screens around the world. Since its first season, which began in June 2009, millions have now experienced the National’s work on movie screens worldwide.
OCCA appreciates the support of the Jeannette Hofer Fund at the Oregon Community Foundation and the City of Newport, as well as individual event sponsors, which makes it possible to show NT Live in HD productions at the PAC.
Ticket prices are $16 for adults, $13 for seniors, and $11 for students. Buy tickets online (look for the "Purchase Tickets" button above), at the PAC box office or by calling 541-265-ARTS (2787). Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (excepting holidays), and one hour prior to performance times.
