Directions: Google Maps and other online mapping programs can have a problem directing you to the VAC. Here are the easiest directions to follow: heading north or south on Hwy. 101, turn west on NW 3rd St. Proceed straight down the hill. At the second stop sign, turn right. One short block later, turn left under Nye Beach archway. Proceed straight to Nye Beach turnaround and parking lot. The VAC is the large blue and gray building off the turnaround. To director offices and upper parking lot: turn west of Hwy. 101 at NW 3rd St. Head down hill. At second stop sign, continue straight 1.5 blocks, with the Sylvia Beach Hotel remaining on your left. The VAC administrative offices can be accessed through the smaller, upper parking lot.
The Oregon Coast Council for the Arts invites the hospitality community and general public to attend a special reception at the Newport Visual Arts Center (VAC), on Thursday, May 24, 4-7pm, 777 NW Beach Dr. Reception attendees will learn about recent facility upgrades at the VAC and how the building’s rental rooms can be used for events, workshops, meetings, retreats, weddings and more. OCCA will also discuss how Newport area visitors, and the hospitality industry, can best stay up to date on VAC exhibitions, art classes and other activities. “Know Your VAC” attendees will enjoy free Crepes Suzettes and other refreshments at Newport’s ocean-side arts center.
“From new tables, chairs and flooring, from new exterior painting to rest-room upgrades,” the VAC has significantly stepped forward as a facility,” says OCCA VAC director Tom Webb. “We invite the public to take a look and envision how they can enjoy the building in the future.”
Brief reception remarks will be made at 5:30pm and a building tour will start at 6pm.
