The Oregon Coast Recorder Society will perform two concerts in Lincoln County in February and March. The first concert at First Presbyterian Church, 227 NE 12th St., Newport, Sunday, February 19, 2:00 p.m., and the second concert at St. Peter the Fisherman Lutheran Church, 1226 SW 13th St., Lincoln City, Sunday, March 5, 2:00 p.m.
OCRS musicians will play several sizes of recorder, plus gemshorns, cello, krumhorns, guitar, and percussion, in pieces from medieval to contemporary times: an estampie arrangement, two Lost in Time duos, two traditional pieces from Argentina. Pieces by Despres, Rampollini, Bach, Shein, OCRS and a Quaker sing-along.
The audience will have an opportunity after the performance to take a closer look at some unusual instruments and talk with players.
Donations of nonperishable food items, checks, or cash are accepted as admission. All proceeds will go to local food pantries to support their work.
The Oregon Coast Recorder Society rehearses every week and is open to recorder players or other musicians interested in early music. For more information, call (541) 961-1228 or visit www.coastrecorder.org.
