Music. Power. Jealousy. Lucian Msamati ("Game of Thrones," "A Comedy of Errors") plays Salieri in Peter Shaffer’s iconic play at the National, with live orchestral accompaniment by Southbank Sinfonia.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a rowdy young prodigy, arrives in Vienna, the music capital of the world – and he’s determined to make a splash. Awestruck by his genius, court composer Antonio Salieri has the power to promote his talent or destroy his name. Seized by obsessive jealousy he begins a war with Mozart, with music, and ultimately, with God.

After winning multiple Olivier and Tony Awards when it premiered at the National Theatre in 1979, "Amadeus" was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film.

National Theatre Live is an initiative by the UK’s National Theatre to broadcast live performances onto cinema screens around the world. Since its first season, which began in June 2009, millions have now experienced the National’s work on movie screens worldwide.

OCCA appreciates the support of the Jeannette Hofer Fund at the Oregon Community Foundation and the City of Newport, as well as individual event sponsors, which makes it possible to show NT Live in HD productions at the PAC.
