NSO with Adam Flatt conducting
Symphony No. 34, Mozart
Decoration Day, Ives
Symphony No. 4, Tchaikovsky
This concert will explore the inward and the outward, the classical and the personal. Mozart's classical symphony and Ives's work sit at two ends of a pendulum. Mozart is formally constructed, sunny and outgoing; Ives inward and stream-of-consciousness. Tchaikovsky's epic symphony might be seen as occupying the middle - a tightly organized work of public art that wears the composer's own heart vividly on its shirtsleeve. The expressive power of Tchaikovsky's music is magnificent, and the Fourth is a thrilling journey each time Maestro Flatt conducts it.
Saturday only! Pre-concert talk with Maestro Flatt at 6:45 pm.
NSO's 2016-17 Season is sponsored by Georgia-Pacific.
