"The Fantasticks" is America's longest running musical and is now celebrating over over 18,000 performances in New York. It features such hit songs as "Try To Remember", "Soon It's Gonna Rain", and "I Can See It". Loosely based on Edmond Rostand's farce "Les Romanesques" with a little bit of "Romeo and Juliet" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" thrown in for good measure, the story is about two young lovers whose father's pretend to feud to, hopefully, make the couple fall in love all the more. The parents stage a mock abduction with the help of a troupe of inept actors so the boy will rescue the girl. But when the children discover the kidnapping was a hoax, they renounce love and go off to see what the real world holds for them. With memorable melodies by Harvey Schmidt and delightful lyrics by Tom Jones, we guarantee that you will fall in love with "The Fantasticks"!
