North Coast Brewing Company (official Oregon Coast Jazz Party brew) hosts a Brew Master Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Yaquina Bay Yacht Club (750 SE Bay Boulevard in Newport) to benefit the Oregon Coast Jazz Party. Starting at 6:30 p.m., North Coast’s fine artisan beers will be paired with cuisine by the Sylvia Beach Hotel's Tables of Content Restaurant.
The Oregon Coast Jazz Party celebrates 13 years of jazz this year! Set for Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, this event brings world-class jazz to the central Oregon coast in the “jazz party” format, which means that visiting musicians will appear in different combinations at different times, known as "sessions," over the course of the jazz party. Performances are held at the Newport Performing Arts Center and the Shilo Inn Suites Hotel, both in Newport, Oregon.
North Coast Brewing's Steller IPA will be paired with Cowgirl Creamery’s Mt. Tam (a handcrafted triple-cream Brie). The very limited Grand Cru – brewed with pilsner malt and agave nectar, then aged in oak bourbon barrels – will be paired with Cypress Grove’s Truffle Tremor, a ripened goat cheese jam-packed with Italian black summer truffles.
Dinner begins with a smoked salmon terrine and house-made crackers, paired with Acme Pale Ale, followed by roasted autumn vegetables with honey dressing and hazelnuts, paired with Pranqster, a golden Belgian-style ale. The main course is house-made landjäger sausages with house-made sauerkraut and parsleyed potatoes paired with North Coast's renouned Belgian style abbey ale, Brother Thelonious. Dessert is a drunken chocolate stout cake with blackberry sauce, paired with Old Rasputin Russian imperial stout, served in a commemorative glass for diners to take home with them.
A special opportunity will be available to all residents coming from Toledo. The charter boat Umatilla II will leave from the Toledo dock across from Pigfeather's in downtown Toledo at 5 p.m. and deliver the diners to the Yacht Club. The boat will then take the guests back to Toledo after the fundraiser. There is no charge for the boat ride but reservations are required, at 541-265-2787.
All reservations, dinner and boat, must be made in advance by calling the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts, the founding organization of the Jazz Party. Call 541-265-2787 for details. Limited seating is available for the Brewmaster Dinner; cost per person is $65; deadline for reservations is Sept. 23.
Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) is the organizational sponsor of the international event, and partners with local businesses and more than 60 volunteers in the production of the jazz party.
