Event Description:

In this workshop, students will learn about Islamic-world papermaking and its role in the history of papermaking. They will be introduced to fiber preparation fermentation and the papermaking technique we will be using during the workshop. The second day will be spent with everyone making his or her own stack of paper. Simple surface finishing techniques will be shown and discussed. On the last day, these will be applied to the finished sheets. Everyone will leave with a sample of the finishing techniques on their own Islamic style papers. Time permitting, we will sew these into a simple pamphlet.

All skill levels welcome.
