Event Description:

Combine careful field study with artful abandon in the studio during this special opportunity to learn and make art about the Oregon silverspot butterfly! The Nature Conservancy’s Oregon Coast Field Steward, Catherine Dunn, will share butterfly expertise during our gentle Cascade Head field trip. Andie will teach field techniques for writing, sketching, and gleaning inner responses. We’ll study butterfly natural history; render their shapes and shimmering colors with watercolor, gouache, ink, and pencil; and explore butterfly-related myths and metaphors. Your field work will transform into two accordion-folding artist’s books combining color, responsive imagery, and written observations.
