Opening reception Friday Sept. 13th 5pm - 7pm
This show is a fascinating display of motion in art. These acrylic landscapes move with intense color in an expression of the power and mystery that the artist finds in nature. She utilizes simplification, abstraction, and bending of shapes to produce emotion, drama and the movement that so magically enlivens this work.
Virginia has been a life long artist/painter. She had her first studio/work space in her grandmother's house at age 12 and by age 14 she was attending Schuler School of Fine Art in Baltimore , Maryland .
Her painting style and use of color changed dramatically while she and her husband lived aboard and traveled extensively on their sail boat. The two and one half year adventure introduced her to the rich vibrant colors found in the tropics. This, coupled with the constant motion of her watery world and the ever present wind are influences that can readily be seen in her colorful movement filled paintings.
Virginia works with acrylics watercolors and pastels and lives on Oregon 's central coast in Waldport.
