Event Description:

Angels and Villains and ELVES! Oh My! The Astor Street Opry Company is once again seeking performers of all ages and experience for our 7th Annual Holiday Musical Melodrama SCROOGED IN ASTORIA!  with auditions being held  Saturday October 12th Noon to 2:00pm and then again on Monday October 14th at 6:00 to 8:00pm.

Directed and written by Judith P. Niland with original music by Phil Morrill, Musical Direction by ChrisLynn Taylor and Co-Direction by Nate Bucholz, this fun and  colorful show is a great way to learn the ropes of community theatre as we combine the traditional holiday story “Scrooge”  with our own melodrama characters from SHANGHAIED IN ASTORIA.

No previous theatre or music experience is necessary for any of the small or large parts for over 26 actors and actresses (ages 12 and older please), as we specialize in working with those who always dreamed of being a stage performer, as well as the well seasoned veteran performer!

So, whether it is the evil villain “Krooke” or one of our sweet choir Angels, our directors will teach the new actor the ropes of live musical theatre performance or let the veteran jump in and do what they do best, all while having a good time celebrating the holiday traditions
"Scrooged In Astoria" performs December 6th to 22nd 2013 at the ASOC Playhouse 129 West Bond Street Uniontown Astoria. Rehearsals will start light beginning Tuesday October 15th 7pm to 9pm and then gradually build up to all weekend nights with the week of Thanksgiving off. Backstage help is also needed. So if you ever thought community theatre just might be your thing come on down to the ASOC Playhouse either Saturday October 12th Noon to 2:00pm or Monday October 14th at 6:00pm to show us star quality!

For more information, or if you can not make these audition dates and are still interested in being a part of this holiday tradition, please call 503-325-6104 or email the director Judith Niland For more updates check our website at
