Directions: Google Maps and other online mapping programs can have a problem directing you to the VAC. Here are the easiest directions to follow: heading north or south on Hwy. 101, turn west on NW 3rd St. Proceed straight down the hill. At the second stop sign, turn right. One short block later, turn left under Nye Beach archway. Proceed straight to Nye Beach turnaround and parking lot. The VAC is the large blue and gray building off the turnaround. To director offices and upper parking lot: turn west of Hwy. 101 at NW 3rd St. Head down hill. At second stop sign, continue straight 1.5 blocks, with the Sylvia Beach Hotel remaining on your left. The VAC administrative offices can be accessed through the smaller, upper parking lot.

Event Description:

The next Exhibition Coffee for volunteers and anyone interested in exploring volunteering opportunities at the Newport Visual Arts Center (VAC) starts at 11 a.m. Sept. 12 at the center.

Christine Harrison, Tillamook County artist and educator, will join us to present an informal artist’s talk about her work in September. Harrison's show "River Mantra" is on display in the Coastal Oregon Visual Artists Showcase through Oct. 26.

OCCA is seeking the following volunteers: Docents to welcome visitors to the Upstairs Gallery at the Newport Visual Arts Center from 12-4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons, a Volunteer Coordinator to help schedule volunteers, a Reception Manager to help plan and host OCCA receptions, and Exhibition Installation Assistants to help install exhibits once a month.

OCCA at the VAC also needs a Publicity Writer to help with press releases and Public Service Announcements for VAC events, and a Light Office Volunteer to help with filing, organizing, email lists, labeling, etc., a Program Assistant to help develop programming for youth, adults and families, and a Social Media Correspondent to upload current events and activities to the VAC Facebook page.

Do you have a skill that would help us celebrate, promote and develop community arts?
