Event Description:

Our lives become more rich and meaningful when we tune into the experience of each moment. This workshop aims to create an environment for each person to become more deeply present through writing and experiences which engage all five senses. Our writing and experiential work will be complimented by the poems and writings of professional writers which engage these ideas in some way. This class is one of exploration and no writing experience is necessary, though seasoned writers and practitioners of meditation are welcome.

About the Instructor

Heather Swan teaches writing and environmental studies at the University of Wisconsin in Madison where she is striving to learn how best to be present and responsible as a human animal on our beautiful planet in this precarious moment. In her opinion, immersion in poetry is a crucial part of this enterprise. In addition to writing poetry and creative nonfiction, Heather also sculpts and keeps bees.
