Priscilla grew up in poverty in Brazil but would sneak into a local conservatory to learn piano. Her skills grew and soon were sponsored by Students Helping Street Kids International. Her music was introduced to Alexandre Dossin, associate professor of piano and a fellow Brazilian. Dossin immediately arranged for Dantas to visit Oregon and the UO campus where she is the recipient of a Ruth Lorraine Close Scholarship, which is funded by a gift to the UO School of Music and Dance. Currently a sophomore, Dantas supports herself by performing in churches, retirement centers, wineries, and private home concerts. She also works as a resident advisor in her UO residence hall.
