Event Description:

In this intuitive, creative, textural, hands-on class, play with wool fibers using both dry and wet felting techniques to create a hollow 3-dimensional project. Emphasis will be on using wool for color in blending, highlighting, and to add zing to your work. Incorporating some novelty materials will be encouraged as part of the creative exploration. Techniques for making whimsical extensions and decorations will also be shared and taught. Finish a hollow sculptured object and leave class with ideas for future projects.

About the Instructor

Laura Berman has always been infatuated with textiles. As a young girl, she followed this thread wherever she could by taking classes in hand sewing, designing and creating outfits and costumes for herself and others, and developing textile experiments for school science projects. In College, she pursued these passions studying apparel and textiles for her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Oregon State University. After many years of sewing, she began to explore surface design and altering the fabrics she used in my work. Today, she enjoys the magic of wet-felting wool fibers and exploring the medium's creative potential.
