This crochet centric workshop is for anyone looking to take needlecraft beyond hotpads and and afghans. From beginners to those who have been making granny squares for years, this class will open up a world of 3D crochet. Inspired by the natural forms of the rugged Oregon coast we will be making unique beasties such as spheres reminiscent of rope encrusted glass floats. Techniques include quick form building with heavy weight yarns and alternative recycled materials, as well as three-dimensional lace crochet.
About the Instructor
Taylor Vogland Dreiling’s teaching philosophy emphasizes the integration of form and concept. She sees technical and aesthetic facility not just as an end in itself but primarily as a vehicle for expressing the student’s creativity. Her artistic process and teaching style encourages critical thinking about formal practice and individual creative goals. Taylor will have an exhibition opening and artist talk at 7 pm on June 29 at the Rowboat Gallery in Pacific City with Judy Vogland.
