The Astor Street Opry Company will be sponsoring an Acting Intensive Class with instructor Karin Bain starting April 8th and running to end of May.
Registration starts February 15th and is limited to 12 students on a first come, first serve basis with a cost of $85.
Classes will meet Mondays and Tuesdays at 6:30pm beginning April 8th, culminating in an acting showcase on May 17th, 18th, 24th and 25th paired with an original one act written and directed by Edward James.
Students will exploration of the craft of acting through monologs, scene work from contemporary dramatic literature, exercises and observations with individual attention from the instructor. In addition students will meet once or twice a week outside of class with monolog and scene partners.
This intensive class emphasizes basic Stanislavsky technique and terminology, character analysis, critical observation, imagination and truth in acting. Students will also learn relaxation techniques and vocal/physical warm ups.
Karen Bain has taught theater for 25 years, including at UO, OSU, CCC, and The River Theater and through ASOC. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Directing and Actor Training from UO.
