Event Description:

The 18th annual Newport Paper Arts Festival offers 17 classes over the three days of April 19, 20 and 21, given by 13 instructors.

"Tube Bindings – Simple, Sophisticated, Structural"

Tube bindings for books and cards are versatile, easy to learn, and fun. Pages lay flat. Paste papers, silk fusions, quilted pieces, paintings, and embellished sheets can be included, and structures can be created for three-dimensional presentations of text and images. Explore tube bindings by creating a miniature abecedarius and box, a blank book, and an obelisk.

Skill Level: All Levels; Class Limit: 16; Materials Fee: $10

"Tube Bindings – Simple, Sophisticated, Structural" is taught by Kate Boyes, a teaching artist/weaver who has presented workshops in university, public school, and community settings for over 20 years. She has published essays and poems and has won acclaim for her artist books.
