Event Description:

The 18th annual Newport Paper Arts Festival offers 17 classes over the three days of April 19, 20 and 21, given by 13 instructors.

"Pulp Friction – Fun with Paper Casting"

Create an assortment of molds and then use the molds to cast paper. Instructors will share an assortment of molds from their personal collections to maximize the selection of cast images available. Make pulp with blenders, strain the pulp and cast the paper in a variety of molds – experimenting with pigments and textures. Integrate your castings into at least two finished projects and take home a pile of paper castings for future projects.

Skill Level: All Levels; Class Limit: 12; Materials Fee: $20

"Pulp Friction – Fun with Paper Casting" is taught by Cynthia Griffin and Nancy Holley. Griffin and Holley are always searching for amazing and unusual projects to create as a team. Cynthia, a graphic artist for 18 years and a 20-year member of the Rogue Valley Calligrapher’s Guild, has a passion for ink, paper, calligraphy, bookbinding and 3D art.
