Event Description:

The Oregon Music Teachers Association is pleased to announce a special benefit concert for the Newport Performing Arts Center to be held at the Performing Arts Center. "The Lincoln County District of the Oregon Music Teachers Association has long benefited from our wonderful Performing Arts Center. OCCA (Oregon Coast Council for the Arts) is currently raising funds to remodel and expand the PAC. We decided this Winter Spotlight should benefit those efforts," says Rita Warton, president. "So, we are joining with other PAC users from the local theatre companies to raise money for the PAC expansion."

This special concert will be a Broadway Review. "This concert will be a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon and support our performing community," says Jessica Treon. "The program will include songs from early Broadway shows of Rogers & Hart moving to Cole Porter and George Gershwin and on to more contemporary works by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Schwartz. We will have vocal solos and duets as well as dance. It will almost cover a century of Broadway hits."

Singers and accompanists are all part of OMTA or players in the local theatre. Local theatre favorites include Brian Haggerty, Stephan, Vickie Steen, and Akia Woods. OMTA members include Sarah Ball, Candy Golden, Chris McKenney, Mary Lee Scoville, Jessica Treon, and Rita Warton. Milo Graamans, a student alumnus of OMTA and a musician in local theatre productions will also perform.

For more information about the concert call Treon at 541/563-4183. For information about OMTA, please call Rita Warton, president, at 541/994-8585. Other activities and membership of Lincoln County OMTA can be viewed at
