Workshop

The Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) website features information on arts and culture workshops, in keeping with OCCA's service to the vibrant arts communities along the 363 miles of Oregon coastline.

Workshops are available at venues up and down the Oregon coast on numerous topics, including painting, folk art, music, ceramics, sculpture, paper arts, textile arts (weaving, dying, spinning), writing, photography, printmaking, woodcarving, jewelry-making, glass work, and gathering oral histories, among many others.

  • OCCA Summer Shakespeare Camp 2018

    July 1st, 2018 to July 13rd, 2018

    Information and registration details are now available for the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) annual summer Shakespeare Camp, set for July 1-13, with performances set for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday, July 12. Registration forms and more information are available by calling Catherine Rickbone at 541-574-2652; by email, from crickbone@coastarts.org; or at the OCCA office at the Newport Performing Arts Center, 777 W. Olive Street in Newport.

  • OCCA Shakespeare Camp Performances

    Join us for some of the best creative thinking paired with young enthusiastic talent when the 2018 OCCA Shakespeare Camp production "A Midsummer Night's Dream," under the direction of Shakespeare scholar Rod Molzahn, is presented in two performances.

  • OCCA Summer Theatre Camps

    July 16th, 2018 to August 10th, 2018

    Oregon Coast Council for the Arts presents two sessions of the Summer Theatre Camps this year. The first session runs Monday through Friday, July 16-27; the second session Monday through Friday, July 30 through August 10. Students who participate will learn about the theater and about each other, and then write and produce a play.

  • VAC 2018 Summer Art Camp (Ages 10-14): Where's Your Art?

    July 16th, 2018 to July 19th, 2018

    Develop your young artist’s creative skills and interests. Reinforce habits of creativity. Have fun! Art Camp will include a variety of activities and projects, resulting in a public exhibit of student artwork at the Newport Visual Arts Center. Hands-on art making (drawing, sculpture) will be reinforced through presentations on foundational art concepts (color theory, perspective, materials) and outdoor adventures to visit public artworks. Campers will work with various media and tools. Campers start by designing their personal VAC Art Camp T-Shirt and move onto filling their sketchbooks with drawings of the Nye Beach neighborhood.

  • VAC 2018 Summer Art Camp (Ages 6-9), Where's Your Art?

    July 30th, 2018 to August 2nd, 2018

    Introduce your young artist to the motions and rhythms of creativity, and the colors, patterns and materials of art making. Have fun! Camp will include a variety of activities, games, group projects, outdoor adventures and more. Portraits of stuffed animals, robot-making, and illustrated storytelling will be included. Campers will work with various media and tools. Campers start by designing their personal VAC Art Camp T-shirt, and move onto to filling their sketchbook with drawings of the Nye Beach neighborhood.
