Music

As one of the primary performing arts, this website celebrates music in all its forms - from student-made to community-based and professional. Find events reflecting music of all styles - classical, chamber, medieval, vocal, jazz, rock, blues, roots, Celtic and more - played in a variety of ways - solo, duo, band, ensemble, group, symphony. Venues vary as well, from tiny corner cafes to huge auditoriums.

Individual music performances are posted as events and can be found in the event calendar. Contact information for music performances and classes can be found by viewing the individual events.

  • Yachats Celtic Music Festival

    November 9th, 2018 to November 11st, 2018

    The Yachats Celtic Music Festival returns for its 18th year on Friday November 9, 2018 at the Yachats Commons, and other venues around town. The Festival will continue through the weekend ending Sunday Nov. 11. Plans include day and night time events including, concerts, dances, stories, talks, whisky tasting, workshops, vendors, the sunset ‘Piper on the Point’, plus surprises, with a variety free and paid activities scheduled. The early Friday noon opening was very popular last year, and that is planned again. This creates an opportunity to enjoy live music and have a Celtic inspired snack or beverage before the afternoon concerts begin. All ages are welcome at most events.

His one-man musical theater of the imagination blends folklore, true-life adventure, and the rare, soulful, fiery sounds of fiddle and pipes into a mesmerizing experience."

    Spend your Sunday afternoon with The Gothard Sisters, a dynamic musical group of three sisters who sing, dance and play several instruments (violin, acoustic guitar, mandolin, bodhran, djembe, whistle and more) for a warm, celebratory welcome to the holidays.     In his first Live in HD appearance as the Met’s Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Michael Mayer’s richly textured new production, featuring a dazzling 18th-century setting that changes with the seasons. Soprano Diana Damrau plays the tragic heroine, Violetta, and tenor Juan Diego Flórez returns to the Met for the first time in five seasons to sing Alfredo, Violetta’s hapless lover.

    The Stomptowners is a rare experience blending dynamic traditional Irish music with voice and hot Irish dance. This four piece ensemble uses Uilleann pipes, Irish bouzouki, fiddle, whistles, breathtaking vocals and driven foot percussion. The tradition comes to life with the all energy today’s audience craves. It is often said about The Stomptowners is that there is something for everyone. A typical performance includes smoking hot Irish and Scottish tunes, choreographed Irish dance, voice with foot percussion, arranged songs as well as evocative a cappella pieces. The Stomptowners repertoire is always kept fresh, alive and relevant to the season.   • Celtic Series: The Outside Track

    February 3rd, 2019 to February 3rd, 2019

    Winner of 'Best Group' in both the Live Ireland awards and the Tradition In Review awards, The Outside Track are one of the top Celtic acts in the world. They were 'Best Live Act' nominees in the MG Alba Scots Traditional Music Awards, and won the German Radio Critics Prize, for their album Flash Company. Live Ireland called them, 'Among the top bands in the world - stunning on every cut!'. The Outside Track’s marriage of Celtic music, song and dance has been rapturously received around the world. Hailing from Scotland, Ireland, and Cape Breton, its five members are united by a love of traditional music and a commitment to creating new music on this as a foundation. They blend fiddle, accordion, harp, guitar, flute, whistle, step-dance and vocals with breathtaking vitality. Their blend of boundless energy and unmistakable joie de vivre has won them a large following around the globe.     For the first time at the Met, Anna Netrebko sings the title role of Adriana Lecouvreur, the great 18th-century actress in love with the military hero Maurizio, sung by tenor Piotr Beczała. Gianandrea Noseda conducts Cilea’s tragedy, in a new staging by Sir David McVicar, with the action partially set in a working replica of a Baroque theater.

    Hailing from the Ulster city of Belfast, Realta is an award winning multi-instrumentalist group presents an enchanting program of dance music interspersed with the occasional story, air and song. While Conor Lamb and Aaron O’Hagan pursue the melody on uilleann pipes and whistles, guitarist and vocalist Deirdre Galway explores the harmony and rhythms within the tunes. All-Ireland champions Dermot Mulholland and Dermot Moynagh complete the line-up with dynamic accompaniments on double bass, bouzouki, banjo, voice and bodhrán, making this one of the most exciting acts on the Irish music scene today.
