Music

As one of the primary performing arts, this website celebrates music in all its forms - from student-made to community-based and professional. Find events reflecting music of all styles - classical, chamber, medieval, vocal, jazz, rock, blues, roots, Celtic and more - played in a variety of ways - solo, duo, band, ensemble, group, symphony. Venues vary as well, from tiny corner cafes to huge auditoriums.

Individual music performances are posted as events and can be found in the event calendar. Contact information for music performances and classes can be found by viewing the individual events.

  • LCCC Presents: Jet Black Trio

    July 1st, 2018 to July 1st, 2018

Description:It all started 25 years ago in the back of a thrift store in Prague. Jetty Swart stumbled upon a fancy accordion. She smuggled it back home, stared at it for a couple of weeks before she realized that now she had to learn how to play it, write songs. And sing them. Since then, Jetty (aka Jet Black Pearl) has become the World Wild Accordion Diva, playing from the streets of New York to theaters and festivals in France (with her band Yeti), until she met The Amazing Bubble Man and moved with him to Portland. She now sings in English, but she’s kept her strange accent and her faithful fancy accordion. She sings, raps and beat boxes about slugs in love, criminal gurus and hallucinating butterflies.

  • LCCC Presents: Ben Cosgrove

    July 5th, 2018 to July 5th, 2018

Description:Ben Cosgrove is a traveling composer-performer whose instrumental music is inspired by landscape, place, and ecology. Ben's 2017 album "Salt," which compares feelings of ungroundedness and confusion to landscapes of flux and ambiguity in northern New England, was described by Seven Days as a "majestic entry into the composer's catalog... replete with near-imperceptible embellishments and forward-thinking concepts." Junction Magazine called the album "a poetry of tones and turns and motion and play that transcends the gross signification of everyday language," and Red Line Roots has deemed it one of the best releases of the year to date. In 2017-18, Ben served as the artist-in-residence with the New England Trail -- a National Scenic Trail connecting New Hampshire to Long Island Sound. He has also held residencies and fellowships at Acadia National Park, Isle Royale National Park, the Schmidt Ocean Institute, and the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, and he spent a year as the artist in residence at White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire and Maine.
