We would like to announce that there is a new place for people who want to unleash their inner pirate, knight, viking or warrior-princess in South Beach. It is called Palladine Studios, and it occupies the largest unit in the Aquarium Village.
When you enter the over 5,000 sq ft studio, you will find yourself transported into a fantasy-themed hall, with the banners of the knights of Camelot hanging from the ceiling, medieval bench-tables, and a roundtable built of 12 separate desks, with tabletops that can be propped up to create easels for drawing and painting.
We are two sisters who live and work in Newport Oregon, and have assisted, performed and directed shows at the Newport Performing Arts Center for the last couple of years. We noticed, however, that while the Oregon Coast is brimming with artistic talent, there were very few options to meet and collaborate with others, which is vital in order for us to continue to develop original theatrical projects. There are also few fun places for young people to hang out regularly after school. So when we saw that this building was available, we decided that instead of wishing such a place existed, we would create it ourselves.
Currently, we are offering acting/choreography classes including Stage Combat (choreography and the use of prop weapons for fight scenes on stage or film), which can be taken as an activity just for fun, or as training for actual productions. We host classes for other arts disciplines, such as drawing, painting, and writing as well. We are looking to rent out the space for themed birthday parties and music events on the weekends, and to instructors for activities to fill up the weekdays and after-school weeknight timeblocks are available (4:15-5:45 pm). Our doors are open as a free hangout spot on Friday nights for boardgames, movies, and videogames, and we will occasionally have free, open-to-the public events.
