Since Oregon Coast Children's Theater (OCCT) began in 1990, they have always had the dream of building a permanent facility to house offices, classrooms, and studios for staff, students, and directors.
The goal was to build the "Oregon Coast Children's Center for the Arts" in a permanent facility owned and operated by our organization and dedicated to keeping alive the arts for all youth in our state and region.
OCCT's current community outreach includes seeking out an individual donor, or patrons, who can help secure a full or partial donation of a land site to create an OCCT home facility. Foundation support in Oregon & from national patrons is much more likely to support "bricks and mortar" than they are land acquisition.
OCCT wants to train students in the study of the fine and performing arts, theatre, film, music, media arts, design, circus, dance, writing, traditional and folk arts like puppetry all under one single roof.
OCCT is staffed by a group of very dedicated individuals who between them have over 250 years of experience in the arts, education and community service. By the end of 2010, OCCT reached over half a million children and patrons, having over 20,000 volunteers involved in OCCT programs. OCCT has received national recognition for its work and produced over 38 original productions.
OCCT currently operates out of storage facilities in both Lincoln & Tillamook County, and holds seasonal and summer programs out of the Toledo Public Library, and Toledo City Park Amphitheater. OCCT also uses city and regional facilities for special programs and continue to tour with OCCT arts and educational programs all over the western United States.
