Sandy Blackman, born and raised in Newport, currently resides in Toledo with her artist husband, Scott Blackman. Together they own the art business, Shamana Arts. They are founding members of the Toledo Arts Guild and their art can be found at Gallery Briseno on Main St. Toledo.
Sandy’s love of bright colors and unusual combinations adds a whimsical touch to each of her handmade bags and scarves. Her bags and scarves can be found at selected art fairs around Oregon, including Newport’s Holiday House in December and at Toledo’s Gallery Briseno. As a retired teacher, Sandy has incorporated her love of art and teaching by instructing mini-lessons to interested persons in polymer clay, mosaic tiling and felting techniques.
She is currently writing a book on the history of Oregon Surfing with her husband Scott Blackman. The book, Oregon Surfing: Past and Present will cover 50 years of Oregon surfing and will be published by Arcadia Publishing in 2014.
