Description:

Pipedance is husband-and-wife team Gary Burman (uilleann pipes, flute, whistles, guitar, voice) and Nora Sherwood (retired champ Irish step dancer, whistle and bodhrán player, award-winning singer). The tunes we play are drawn from traditional sessions and include reels, jigs, slip jigs, hornpipes, polkas, etc., with the occasional aire thrown in for good measure. We also sing ballads and sean-nos style songs, and do a little sean-nos dancing to round out our performances.

Pipedance was formed out of a true love for Irish music and dance. The now Lincoln City, OR-based team began to performing together in 2001. The exciting duo’s sound is complemented by Nora’s percussive sean nós step dancing – this duo is not only fun to list to, they are fun to watch.

Gary Burman is a lifelong musician who plays uilleann pipes, guitar, flute and whistle, and is also a wonderful balladeer. He is a fine craftsman who builds his own pipes and will be playing instruments he built himself.

Nora Sherwood is a champion Irish step dancer. She also plays whistle and bodhrán, and sings and dances in the traditional sean nós style. She was named Folk Musician of the Year at the Long’s Peak Scottish/Irish in 2008 for her sean nós singing.
