OCCA strengthens the arts by ensuring that the Oregon coast has a rich and vibrant arts community through support and promotion of arts organizations and individual artists.

This directory represents the coastal areas of Oregon, which include Clatsop, Tillamook, Lincoln, Coos, and Curry counties and the coastal towns of Lane and Douglas counties.  OCCA is the regional arts council for this area. Learn more about OCCA's regional arts activities.

  • Wallace Vickers Kaufman

    Wallace Kaufman conducts workshops and master classes in non-fiction, fiction, and poetry as well as presenting readings and lectures from his own work and experience. Since finishing Duke University Magna Cum Laude and taking his graduate degree at Oxford as a Marshall Scholar, he has taught writing at Duke and the University of North Carolina and served twice as writer-in-residence at Bucknell. At Woods Hole Marine Biology Laboratory he was a Science Writing Fellow. He has also founded several businesses, conducted economic surveys in Eastern Europe as communism dissolved, and now has a professional conflict mediation service.

    The Yaquina Art Association is a community-based nonprofit art organization whose primary purpose is to provide art education and promote appreciation of the arts. This is done by providing a variety of tuition-free classes, maintaining a gallery and gift shop for local artists to sell their work, and funding a scholarship program for students in the community. It has been a steady artistic and educational influence in the Lincoln County area since 1947. Clay or painting? Beginner or advanced? The Yaquina Art Association has a class for you! We’ve been dedicated to making art education fun and accessible to everyone. All of the classes are free to attend and open to anyone who has an interest in arts. All of our classes are currently offered on a walk-in basis (no registration required). Seats will be filled on a first-come, space available basis. We offer classes in a wide range of media including: Watercolor Oil/Acrylic Pastels Colored Pencil & Drawing China Painting & Clay Photography All classes are held in the second floor classroom at the Newport Visual Art Center.
