Dear Faire People,
Once
again, the time approaches for preparation of the Fourth annual Glastonbury
Renaissance Faire. The
Glastonbury
Renaissance Faire is a celebration of life in the
history and legends
of Medieval and Renaissance Europe with something for all ages to
enjoy. We welcome
our many new and returning artisans and entertainers to this Glastonbury Renaissance Faire
2004. This year we welcome the Oregon Coast Aquarium as a major sponsor.
Entertaining, interactive and educational, this event provides
wonderful
singers, and dancers to entertain. Some of the exciting entertainers
for The 2004 event will include "Zinger The Magick," Heather Alexander,
nationally known Celtic singer, The BOWI Band, and Shakespeare's Bloody
Bits from San Francisco. There are magicians, puppets and treasure
hunts for the young. Visitors will enjoy the re-enactments of the days
of chivalry and sword fighting, as knights, nobles and royalty
including Glastonbury's own Queen Mary in colorful
Renaissance regalia visit the Faire. It is also an opportunity
for
regional artisans to display and sell their treasures. Visitors are
encouraged
to come in costumes of the period. The natural beauty of the South
Beach
State Park's ocean beach and dunes, wooded hills and glen, make the
Glastonbury
village site more than faire. All the modern conveniences that the city
of Newport offers you are close by, but are discreetly masked by the
abundant
coastal pines enveloping this park. Through this festival we hope to
raise
public awareness about the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts and
to benefit its ongoing activities.
With the sponsorship and volunteerism from the private, civic
and commercial members of our community, we will make this Faire experience
both comfortable and enjoyable for all. We wish you well in all your endeavors.
Due to our growth over the last five
years, there is no parking space available at the Park to accommodate
us. The Oregon Coast Aquarium is donating the RV Parking area
across from the Aquarium for our use that weekend, and there will be
shuttle busses to take you direct to the Faire entrance.
All is Faire . . .
Peace to all who enter this
